This 61.0x91.4cm oil pastel painting on canvas board, is of The Liberty Statue (Szabadság-szobor) on Gellért Hill in Budapest. This is my third painting in my “Budapest” series. I used a photo as a reference but reinterpreted it with the intentions of transforming it into a more painterly abstracted state. The viewer’s eyes are meant to move endlessly across the bright landscape but at the same time only get a sense of the fleeting experience as if they were there for just a blink of the eye.
